I have been hearing a lot of buzz regarding Nu Skin Care Company so finally after reading about them for three consecutive days I am going to review them.
- What is Nu Skincare is all about?

What is Nu skin?
Nu skin is a multilevel- marketing company which sells nutritional and skincare products. They have a wide range of nutritional supplements and cosmetics which they sell two brands namely Nu Skin and Pharmanex.
As per the reported data, the company’s revenue is $2.68 billion with 4,900 registered employees and around 1.2 million independent distributors.
Nu skin was found in 1984 by Blake Roney. He resigned from Nu skin enterprises in 2012 and now the current CEO is Ritch N. Wood and Mark Lawrence.
The company headquarter is located in Utah, United States and started its first foreign export in 1990. After getting popular in the market they started their operation in other continents as well.
Even though they have made their mark in the market the company faced lawsuits for their doubtful business model and had to pay millions for settlement.
How does Nu skin work?
Nu skin has the feature of signing up people as their representative for free. A representative is given products at a discounted price and then asked to sell them at retail price to earn a commission.
Or representative may form a team of members by recruiting them to form a distributor chain and then each member earns commission according to their level.
After signing up you have to send them a formal letter of your desire to be their sale representative.
Why you should not join Nu Skin?
There are two reasons why I would not recommend people to join Nu Skin mainly because of their MLM based business schemes.
They are also being reported for operation as a pyramid scheme which is illegal. Second, they also claim that joining them as their representative is free but to sell their products you have to buy stock or have to recruit more people for you to earn commissions.
MLM schemes do not have any positive outcome in fact here you lose more than you earn. In terms of better earning with a flexible schedule and no investment, I prefer Affiliate marketing.

How much does Nu skin membership cost?
After signing up for free as their distributor or representative you are required to pay their startup fee of $35 and annual membership fee of $20.
New distributors will be given training through tutorials. After making a certain amount of sale distributors are given different ranks:
- Ruby
- Diamond
- Emerald
- and Blue diamond.
Distributors are given the responsibility to find their target audience to resell products for which they have invested. The
The First 6 months are called the training phase in which a distributor must maintain a monthly quota of a minimum of 500 sale volume.
How can I earn from Nu skin?
There are different methods through which Nu skin pays its distributors.
Reselling at Retail Price
Distributors have to stock up product at wholesale price which they can sell at retail price or whichever price they decide to sell. Distributors are free to sell at any price to make a considerable profite.
Forming a down line
The other way to earn is to sponsoring more members into your team. With the increase in sale volume, the ranking also increases.
According to an estimate an executive-level can earn up to $5292 annually. Recruiting more distributors will help in reaching the top of those levels.

Is Nu Skin a scam?
Nu Skin does not look like a scam but it does not look like a reliable source of earning either. In 2014, Chinese authority claimed that Nu Skin operates as a pyramid scheme, which is illegal for which the company paid $47 million for settlement of a lawsuit.
Not only that three times US authorities also filed lawsuits against Nu Skin.
It looks like anyone who makes a profit from Nu Skin I have to recruit a lot of people to make commissions from their product their purchase.
Nu Skin an MLM or Pyramid Scheme?
Nu Skin as an element of both. They operate as MLM and Pyramid scheme which is the reason they have been investigated earlier for their deceptive business model.
Pyramid Scheme works on recruiting more and more members forming a long chain of distributors with little commission as a return.
To hide their Pyramid you are required to sell their product maintains a monthly quota of a minimum of 500 sale volume.
To be a Nu Skin distributor you are required to pay for the distributorship then you are obliged to pay for the products at the wholesale price.
As compare to MLM for a better source of income will recommend starting affiliate marketing and check My Top recommendation to learn how you can build your own business with your laptop and internet connection
Is Nu skin worth a try?
Without having a doubt Nu Skin doesn’t look like a company where I would recommend anyone to invest.
A company that has faced many lawsuits and has poor feedback is not even worth a try. Not only that about 80% of online distributors earned no commission through it.
They have an unlimited chain of distributors, recruiting new member each day for which they have to buy stock in order to resell those products increase more competition.
In this business, only the one sitting at the top of the hierarchy gets the benefit and everyone beneath suffers.
All these points are red flags about this Nu Skin and MLM company, in general, you must consider those points before investing.

The better alternative to Nu Skin?
MLM schemes are doubtful and according to a published report around 90% of the members lose money in this business model.
In the video below John Oliver demonstrates how people lose money in this business model.
There is this huge discrepancy in what MLM recruiters are promised and the in reality what they are paid.
In comparison to MLM, Affiliate marketing gives a more reliable and beneficial means of earning.
There are many positive aspects of Affiliate marketing some of them I have stated below:
- You are not required to invest any amount or purchasing products.
- You promote a product and if someone buys the product you earn commissions.
- You are not employed as a company distributor; hence you work independently without any workload of customer service.
- You are not asked to recruit more members in order to earn more.
- You can manage according to your working schedule without any need of working overtime.
Affiliate marketing provides a better opportunity for making passive income online. If you are willing to know more then I have an offer for you.
I recently found this affiliate marketing training program where they are giving away 10 initial pieces of training, one website and one keyword research tool absolutely free.
You can then sign up as an affiliate with any big names like Amazon. They will provide you with an affiliate link that you have to promote.
But you have to learn how to put those products in front of your potential and make commissions whenever someone the product you are promoting.
Wealthy Affiliate has step by step training on how to build a successful business with Affiliate Marketing and make passive income from home.
Heck! This is not overnight success or a get rich quick scheme. your success is dependent on many factors including your goals, effort and commitment.
Is MLM or Pyramid Scheme?- My Final Verdict
Nu Skin operates as MLM and also have an element of a Pyramid Scheme. Nu Skin is not offering business opportunities.
The MLM strategy is to make themselves richer without spending a lot of money on marketing. As Nu Skin distributor you first Nu Skin potential client and salesperson.
If you are looking for a part-time or full-time income always look for opportunities that are easier to avail and have flexible working hours and earning decent money while sitting at your home is always a good idea!
If you looking for a business model that does not include recruiting or buying experience product you can download My Free Money Making Guide and understand the process of making money online.
