Why do people fail with Affiliate Marketing?
People fail with Affiliate Marketing due to lack of skills and the wrong mindset.
They are very impatient to make money online without putting in the work needed to succeed online.
What I always tell people and my audience is Affiliate Marketing, not a job that you expect a salary every month.
It is a business model that you need to build from the ground.
However, it does not need customer service and other headaches that come with managing a business.
All you need is a laptop and an internet connection.
It also needs a road map to build a successful business online.
I like this Article by Jerry Huang: Are you willing to work for free (The Secret to Success in Anything!)
If you want to start your Affiliate Marketing journey you will need to accept to work for free for a few months.
I consider affiliate Marketing as sowing.
You can not plough, harvest, sow and eat on the same day.
It is very impossible.
All I am trying to say is the work you do now. This means creating content and other videos is not a waste of time.
You may not see the result now.
But in a few months if you are still constant you will see the fruit of what you are doing now.
Let’s see the 7 reasons why people fail with Affiliate Marketing and the last reason will help you open your eyes when it comes to choosing products to promote.
1. Thinking Affiliate Marketing is easy
Most of the people who start this business journey have the wrong mindset.
They think affiliate marketing is very easy or is some sort of quick-fix financial problem.
Affiliate Marketing is very similar to other businesses.
People fail and keep trying until they succeed.
There is a lot of competition in this industry and it does not need any capital to start your Affiliate Marketing business.
People who succeed in this business model have the right mindset and they are very determined and committed to making this business work.
2. Unrealistic Expectation
At the beginning of this article, I showed you how my right Roope made $5,000 in the week with Affiliate Marketing.
Some people will rush up to see how they can also make the $5,000 in the week without analyzing the amount of work Roope put out to reach this kind of result.
There are many programs out there that oversold their products.
You just have to understand the marketing concept.
Few people will tell you the truth about this business model.
I do not think Affiliate Marketing is for everyone.
If you are good at following orders and instructions finding a job can be the best suit for you.
Therefore, if you hate that making money with Affiliate Marketing can be the best alternative.
But It needs time and effort and definitively someone with a strong mindset.
Whether you need to make $100 to $1000 per day to achieve this result all depends on your mindset.
It is not a get-rich scheme or overnight success.
You need to have a realistic expectation and Rome was not built in one day.
3. Run after the shiny object
All that glitters is not gold. Folk I have been on the internet for a long time and I know how other Affiliate Marketers try so hard to convince people what is the best affiliate marketing training program and what is not.
Some Affiliate Marketers always run after product that promises high commission or programs that claims you can build your business automated and get more free traffic.
Programs like 12 Minutes Affiliate or Perpetual Income 365.
Do not buy those training programs
Do not run after the shiny object.
Stick to one program.
It is only your effort that will make your Affiliate Marketing business successful.
Choose 2 to 3 products to promote and focus on.
Do not run after the automated program you can not build a successful Affiliate Marketing business with those automated programs.
The process of building affiliate Marketing is very simple.
- 1. You need to:
- 2. A Niche
- 3. A platform ( I advise having a website and a YouTube channel)
- 4. Traffic by creating quality content
- 5 Earn commissions
4. No goals and plan of action
People fail with Affiliate Marketing because they do not have any goal or plan of action to achieve their goals.
They just join affiliate programs because they want to make money online or work from home.
I started an Affiliate Marketing business because I was tired of working as an Uber Eats driver and you know when you do not have money people do not respect you.
I needed to gain respect.
That was my WHY and I needed to set up an action plan to achieve it.
You need to know your WHY and why you want to start your affiliate marketing business.
Therefore, if your goal is to travel the world or have financial freedom.
Then no matter how hard affiliate marketing gets you will also work hard to achieve your goals
5. Choosing a broad niche
You have heard that there is no wrong or right niche. Right?
That is the truth.
However, the challenge most newbies face with affiliate marketing is they choose a broad niche.
Your niche cannot be too broad.
You should narrow down your niche to focus on a very specific target audience.
This allows you to stand out from the crowd and see faster results.
Let me give you an example of the “singing” market.
I am sure there are a lot of people out there who want to get better at singing and are willing to spend money to achieve the results they want.
“How to sing” or “How to get better at singing” is a very broad market.
There are many different types of target audiences in the singing market alone that you can narrow down to.
- How to become a good choir singer?”
- How to sing for complete beginners”
- How to become a professional singer?”
- How to become an opera singer?”
You can see I have narrowed down the signing niche and focused on a very specific target audience.
Your niche needs to focus on a very specific target audience.
Those are just a few examples to understand what I am talking about.
Wealthy Affiliate has an AI niche finder that will help find the right niche for you to succeed online.
6. Fail to Diversify your Traffic
Some Affiliate Marketers rely on Search Engine Optimization to drive traffic to their websites.
This means whenever someone is searching for a specific keyword that is related to their content the website will show up on search results.
Google has dominated the search engine market, maintaining a 92.47% market share as of June 2021.
Most Affiliate Marketers rely on Google to get free organic traffic.
Google is always changing the algorithm whenever there is an update many websites lose traffic.
I have lost almost 50% of my traffic overnight.
You have to learn how to diversify your traffic to stay in the business.
You can also be active on YouTube, Pinterest, Linkedin, Facebook, TikTok and other platforms.
Whenever something goes wrong on one platform you still have some backups.
7. Running After money
Most Affiliate Marketers fail in this business model because they are running after money.
To build a successful Affiliate Marketing you need to focus on helping and educating your audience.
If you focus on helping and educating your audience you will build some sort of trust.
There are a lot of scams online people buy products from people they know and trust.
Another I thing have seen is other affiliate marketers promote products just because it is paying good commissions.
You need to know the product that you are promoting and look very closely at their operation.
Last year I wanted to promote RagingBull just because they were paying good commissions.
In December 2020 they were served with a lawsuit by the FTC (The Federal Trade Commission) and they had to stop the operation while.
I just read some way they are back in the business.
From December until May, many of their Affiliate marketers lost their income overnight.
Just Imagine you have been working hard and years on your business and it collapsed overnight.
Another one is MOBE (My Online Business Education) they were in the business of looting people and they were paying a very good commission.
It was closed down by the FTC and many affiliate marketers lost their income overnight.
So you need to know your product and promote products that add value to people.
If you are running after the money you find yourself in a situation where to can not get out of it and lose everything that you have been working on for years just collapse overnight.
My Final Thought – Why People Fail with Affiliate Marketing
In conclusion, people fail with Affiliate Marketing because they have the wrong mindset, lack skills and are impatient.
Before you start your affiliate marketing business you need to ask yourself some questions.
Do I like writing or making videos?
Can I be able to produce quality content almost every day?
Can be able to adjust to the business trend and learn new skills.
If the answer is yes then you have set for success.
